TCU Schedules Home-&-Home Series With Stanford
TCU is scheduling games with power five conference opponents left and right. Stanford announced today that they’ve reached an agreement with TCU for a home-and-home series.
TCU is on a scheduling tear. Just yesterday Bret McMurphy with ESPN reported that TCU had scheduled a home-and-home series with former Big 12 member Colorado, and today one of the Buffaloes’ current conference opponents, Stanford, announced they’ve got a couple of dates lined up with the Horned Frogs too.
TCU and Stanford have met just twice before, and in both meetings the Horned Frogs got the better of the Cardinal. In 2007 Stanford kicked a field late in the third quarter to go up 31-17, but TCU answered right back with a touchdown. Two more touchdowns in the fourth and their comeback was complete, winning 38-36. In 2008 the game wasn’t nearly as close as the frogs shut Stanford out in the second half, and easily won 31-14.
It’s great to see two teams of such caliber not afraid to play each other, but if you’re excited for the matchup, you’re going to have to wait awhile. TCU won’t make the trip out west until 2024, and Stanford won’t return the favor until three years after that.
As we pointed out yesterday, TCU is loading up their non-conference schedule. They have future home-and-home series scheduled with Minnesota, Arkansas, Ohio State, California, Colorado, and now Stanford. The Frogs are sending a message to the rest of the college football world, ‘We’ll take on all challengers”.
