For the second time in five months Oklahoma head coach Bob Stoops dismissed a receiver from the program on Sunday. A spokesperson for the university cited an unspecified violation of team rules as the reason.
It has not been a good last few days for attrition at Oklahoma. Following running back Keith Ford’s decision to transfer, Young is the second player from the 2013 recruiting class to leave OU in the last week.
The Sooners are fairly stacked at receiver, but the loss of Young does mean some production will need to be made up. After being redshirted his freshman year, he played in 12 games last season, including starting in three. He caught 19 passes for 215 yards, and a touchdown.
Young also looked good in the spring game just a few weeks ago. He pulled in three passes for 28 yards.
There’s no word yet on where Young might end up, but hopefully he can learn from his mistakes and go on to have a great career.
