Wow, at this point what do you say? Things are becoming laughable in Lawrence. There’s a chance the basketball team could have a bigger roster by the time football starts.
Okay, not really, but still, Kansas was already significantly under the 85-man scholarship limit with just 64, and first-year head coach David Beaty announced today that a couple more linemen won’t be playing in the fall: Joey Bloomfield and Junior Visinia.
Bloomfield has decided to retire from football, but reportedly will still be with the team in some other capacity. He came to the Jayhawks in 2013, but never saw the field. With the severe lack of depth this season though, he was expected to receive some playing minutes.
The loss of Visinia is much more significant. No reason was given for his departure, but he started the final three games last season when Ngalu Fusimalohi went down with injury. This season he was expected to start at right guard.
The hits just keep coming for the Jayhawks.
