What do we love about the doldrums of early August, otherwise known as the preseason? Not much. There’s the evaluation of talent, analysing depth charts, and preseason odds. It’s that last one we’re focusing on here. Online sportsbook Bovada has updated their odds on who will win the National Title.
TCU leads the Big 12, and is a 7-1 favorite to win the college football championship. This ties the Horned Frogs with Alabama (also 7-1) as the second most likely team to win the championship behind Ohio State at 11-4. Rounding out the top ten are Auburn (9-1), USC (16-1), Notre Dame (20-1), Baylor (20-1), Oregon (22-1), Clemson (22-1), and Florida State (25-1).
The Big 12 does well by placing two teams in the top 10, as does the SEC, PAC-12, and ACC. Oklahoma isn’t too far behind them either with 28-1 odds. After that though, there’s a sharp drop. Here’s the rundown.
- TCU 7/1
- Baylor 20/1
- Oklahoma 28/1
- Kansas State 100/1
- Oklahoma State 100/1
- Texas 100/1
- West Virginia 300/1
- Texas Tech 500/1
But hey, it’s still the pre-season and everyone is still 0-0, right? Odds were meant to be proven wrong and hope springs eternal this time of year.
