[dropcap]I[/dropcap]n week 4 we finally get a taste of conference play. We will really find out the make up of the Oklahoma State and Texas teams. This is the marquee matchup for the weekend.
Can Kliff Kingsbury get the Red Raiders gear up for TCU? Baylor’s stomach has surely got to be hurting from all these cupcakes, right? And West Virginia has one of the more compelling non conference games for the Big 12 this week, which isn’t saying much.
OKLAHOMA STATE AT TEXAS
Date: Saturday September 26th
Where: Austin, TX
The Cowboys are red-hot after a 3-0 start, and will have the offense humming along nicely. Mason Rudolph will be in midseason form, and in sync with his receivers entering the game. The question is, can they stay in rhythm against the Big 12’s best defense?
The Longhorns throttled the Pokes last year. OSU’s time of possession was equal to Daxx Garman’s time on the ground, and the Pokes haven’t forgotten it. Look for the Cowboys offensive line to make a statement in this game.
We will also see what the Texas quarterbacks are really made of. With the reigning Big 12 Defensive Lineman of the Year in Emmanuel Ogbah coming off the edge and a veteran secondary dialing in on them, Jerrod Heard and/or Tyrone Swoopes will have their hands full.
In the end I have more faith in Rudolph to put up points on a solid defense than I have in either Texas QB to do the same. Oklahoma State wins by 17 points.
