The AP Poll and Coaches Poll have released their Top 25 rankings for week five, and five Big 12 teams are now ranked!
TCU is still the conference top dog, but a shootout win over Texas Tech did them no favors as they dropped from second to third in the Coaches Poll, and dropped from being tied with Ole Miss for third to fourth in the AP Poll. Has any team been bumped in the polls following a win than the Horned Frogs lately? Hopefully a win over Texas next Saturday doesn’t bump them out of the top five.
Baylor remains on the heals of TCU at fourth in the Coaches Poll and fifth in the AP Poll after their destruction of Rice Saturday afternoon. Texas Tech should provide a little bit more competition this weekend.
Oklahoma has grown roots in the middle of the polls, but a big move wasn’t expected following their bye week.
Oklahoma State moved up from 25th in both polls to 19th in the Coaches Poll and from 24th to 20th in the AP Poll after their controversial, last second win against the Longhorns.
This week saw a newcomer in the polls as West Virginia moves into the ranks following a dominating win over former Big East rival Maryland. They’re now ranked 23rd in the AP Poll and 21st in the Coaches Poll to set up a top 25 matchup in Norman this week.
Kansas State remains just outside the top 25 in both polls after their bye, and Texas Tech also received votes in both polls despite losing to TCU in the final seconds.
