Everytime we turn around it seems like the Horned Frogs have lost another player to injury, but when they face Texas on Saturday it looks like the Longhorns will be dealing with an injury issue of their own.
Sandwiched in between the myriad of articles outlining just how poorly the gut-wrenching loss to Oklahoma State was officiated, was the news that Kent Perkins had suffered an injury during the game, and is day-to-day. Now, Alex Dunlap with Orangebloods.com is reporting that Kent Perkins won’t play against TCU.

The loss of Perkins is significant. He’s a big piece of the o-line. After he left the game Heard was dropped five times in the backfield for a loss of 39 yards. Oklahoma State defensive end Emmanuel Ogbah made quick work of Marcus Hutchins, who came in to replace Perkins.
Hutchins was so bad in the game, senior left guard Sedrick Flowers called him out afterward.
“The guy who came in could have done a better job,” Flowers said. “The next guy up needs to make sure there’s no dropoff. You can’t say, ‘Well, I haven’t had a lot of reps,’ as an excuse.”
“That’s what killed us last year – the way the O-line played. There weren’t running lanes, and we weren’t able to protect the quarterback. We can’t go back to that.”
As far as who will get the start against the Longhorns, that may go to sophomore Tristan Nickelson. He came in for the struggling Hutchins against Oklahoma State. He’s not quite at the level you would want for someone contributing major minutes, but he didn’t make major mistakes against Pokes. Sometimes, that’s all you can hope for.
