Beat The Bookie: Week 7 Picks

After a decent week six, a couple of us are over 60 percent. You might want to start paying attention! If only to see us fall on our faces before it’s all over!

The Mirage Resort Race and Sports Book in Las Vegas - Las Vegas News Bureau

It would seem we’re starting to get the hang of things. Tracy didn’t have the best week, but for the most part it wasn’t too bad. A couple of us are even above 50 percent!

Let’s go ahead and get straight into this week’s picks, but first our standard disclaimer.

Disclaimer: We are not responsible if you lose money by taking our picks. In fact we would advise you against it. We are probably quite terrible at this.

Chris Ross

  • Baylor -20.5 (vs West Virginia)
  • South Carolina -2.5 (vs Vanderbilt)
  • Marshall -4 (at Florida Atlantic)
  • Texas Tech -31 (at Kansas)
  • Indiana -5.5 (vs Rutgers)

Baylor has yet to face any real competition this season, and I’m not sure they will on Saturday. West Virginia is coming off back-to-back losses, the last of which was a devastating overtime loss. Now they have to travel halfway across the country and face the Big 12’s top ranked team. Don’t be surprised when this get out of hand in the first half.

Kyle Lang

  • Michigan State +7.5 (at Michigan)
  • Washington State -8 (vs Oregon State)
  • Notre Dame -6.5 (vs USC)
  • Mississippi -10.5 (at Memphis)
  • Oklahoma -4 (at Kansas State)

Going into the Texas game last week people had begun talking about Oklahoma’s return to prominence to the college football scene, apparently the Sooners weren’t quite ready for that. They will however, be ready to take out their frustrations on a Kansas State team that has lost their last two games in heartbreaking fashion.

Landon Wilson

  • Michigan St +7.5 (at Michigan)
  • Arizona -8 (at Colorado)
  • Central Michigan -6.5 (vs Buffalo)
  • Minnesota -2 (vs Nebraska)
  • Texas Tech -31 (at Kansas)

Texas Tech has been playing some solid football as of late and Kansas is, well… Kansas. Baylor set the bar last week, and now the Red Raiders get their crack to top it.

Matt Turney

  • Houston -19.5 (at Tulane)
  • Texas A&M +4.5 (vs Alabama)
  • Miami -4 (vs Virginia Tech)
  • Michigan State +7.5 (at Michigan)
  • TCU -20.5 (at Iowa State)

Iowa State’s wheels are all but off. After Tech put 776 yards and 66 points on them, it’s open season on the Cyclones. This will be another golden opportunity for Boykin and Doctson to improve upon their Heisman resumes.

Tracy Guest

  • BYU -6.5 (vs Cincinnati)
  • Mississippi State -13.5 (vs Louisiana Tech)
  • Southern Cal +6.5 (at Notre Dame)
  • South Carolina -2.5 (vs Vanderbilt)
  • TCU -20.5 (at Iowa State)

TCU simply has too many weapons for Iowa State to have any chance in this one. Boykin will pick on the overmatched secondary of the Cyclones and the Frogs should cruise in Ames.
