The release of the week 9 AP Poll, Coaches Poll, and Sagarin ratings was good news for a couple Big 12 teams, but take one week off and the voters will send you tumbling.
Baylor remains the Big 12’s best bet to land in the CFB Playoff at second in both human polls, but the computers weren’t as happy with their win over Iowa State. They slipped back one spot to third in the Sagarin Ratings.
TCU must have looked awful in their bye week. They enjoyed a weekend off to heal up a bit, but it wasn’t without its costs. The AP bumped the Horned Frogs out of the coveted top four spots by dropping them to fifth, and they lost two spots in the Sagarin Ratings as well. The good news is with three top 15 teams left on the schedule, they have plenty of time to make an impression, and should have no problem getting in if they win out.
Oklahoma State played on against Kansas after tragedy struck in Stillwater. The Cowboys 58-10 victory over the hapless Jayhawks helped them to move up two spots in both the AP Poll to 12th and the Coaches Poll to take the 10th spot. Although, part of the rise is thanks to a couple of teams in front of them losing. It’s not about who wins the biggest game, but who does the best job of managing the season, and the Pokes are doing a great job of that.
Oklahoma continued to play angry with a 63-27 beat down over Texas Tech, and they’re steadily moving back up the polls. They are up three spots in the AP Poll to 14th, and two spots to 13th in the Coaches Poll.
The Big 12 has 40% of the conference ranked in the top 15, and with all four yet to play each other, it should be a fantastic finish to the season!
