The release of week 12’s AP Poll, Coaches Poll, and Sagarin Ratings have the four ranked Big 12 teams moving up and down the rankings.
Oklahoma moved up to fifth in both the AP and Coaches Poll which makes them the Big 12’s highest rated team. The Sooners played a closer than expected game with TCU on Saturday night in Norman. The game came down to a failed two point conversion by the Horned Frogs with less than a minute to go in the fourth quarter which gave the Sooners a thrilling 30-29 victory. For their efforts TCU dropped four spots to 15th in the AP Poll while also moving down five spots to 16th in the Coaches Poll.
Baylor moved back up the polls after a 45-35 win at Oklahoma State. The Bears relied on their third string quarterback Chris Johnson to drive their success, he threw for two touchdowns and ran in another. The win helped Baylor move up three spots in both polls to seventh. Oklahoma State didn’t fare well in the polls on Sunday moving down five spots to ninth in the AP Poll and sliding down six spots to tenth in the Coaches Poll.
The Sagarin Ratings weren’t as kind to the Big 12 this week, last week there were four Big 12 teams ranked in the top eight and this week the conference had its top four team’s ranked 12th or better. The path to a Big 12 Championship as well as a College Football Playoff spot became a little more clear for some teams, while other teams now need some help. This weekend’s Bedlam Rivalry, along with the Revivalry, are must watch football for all Big 12 fans.
