It looks like the Doug Meacham to North Texas saga is nearing an end, and the TCU co-coordinator will be staying in Fort Worth.

It’s been a wild 24 hours. Just as reports were heating up of Meacham as the next head coach of the Mean Green, talks seemed to fall apart as late yesterday is was said North Texas would be heading in a different direction.
Folks all over the state of Texas have been waiting with bated breath for Meacham’s decision. North Texas fans want to know who their next coach is going to be. TCU fans are hoping not to lose budding coaching star, and Longhorn fans have an interest as well.
The news of Meacham staying put, is good news for Charlie Strong and company. Coach Strong is looking for a home run hire for his next offensive coordinator and the Longhorns have their eyes set on TCU’s other talented co-offensive coordinator, Sonny Cumbie. However, it was thought that TCU would do everything they can to prevent losing both coordinators in the same year, and would match any offer Texas sent over.
With Meacham’s decision to stick around though, will TCU be as willing to get into a bidding war to hold onto Cumbie? We’ll have to wait a bit longer to find out.
