A Baylor running back is in a bit of hot water. Devin Chafin, a redshirt junior, has been arrested and jailed in Tillman County, OK, on Possession of Marijuana charges. Chafin, along with a female passenger, Jennifer Kerr, were heading back to Texas from a Spring Break trip in Colorado when they were pulled over for allegedly speeding. That’s when pot, and pot candy, was allegedly found in the vehicle.
“During the course of the stop, it was discovered that the occupants were in possession of marijuana and marijuana candy that they purchased in Colorado while on spring break,” Tillman County Sheriff’s posted to their Facebook page.
Last season Chafin piled up 578 rushing yards to go along with 9 touchdowns on the ground. He featured prominently in Baylor’s Russell Athletic Bowl win over North Carolina where he carried the ball 27 times for 156 yards and a touchdown. He is expected to be a big part of Baylor’s offense in 2016 behind Shock Linwood.
Friday afternoon coach Art Briles suspended Chafin pending further investigation for the team.
