Defensive end Charles Walker was a big piece of the Sooners defense last season coming off the bench. This season he’s expected to contribute even more as a starter, although he’s benched for the time being.

Walker will miss the rest of spring practice after undergoing surgery on his wrist on Friday. Sooner fans shouldn’t be too worried though. Walker, a junior, told a reporter on Twitter that the surgery is not a big deal and that he “just got something handled from the season.”

Walker’s 2015 season was cut a game short after suffering a concussion before the Orange Bowl, but he provided crucial support as part of the rotation throughout the season. He was a constant disruption for offenses with 10 tackles for a loss and six sacks.

Defensive tackle Du’Vonta Lampkin also underwent surgery last week (knee), but should be back from summer workouts. Lampkin, a redshirt freshman, was a 3-star member of the 2015 class that had originally signed with Texas before making his way to Norman.
