How do you find the replacement to a coach that took you to great heights and deep lows all while espousing the offensive philosophy based largely off “student body right” and “student body left”? How about looking at the guy that followed him at his previous school and did better.
The Time-Picayune is reporting that while still pursuing Florida State’s Jimbo Fisher as their number one candidate, LSU is interested in Mike “Bitchin’ Camaro” Gundy.
“Other names being considered by LSU are North Carolina coach Larry Fedora, Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy and Houston coach Tom Herman. Fedora’s reps have been contacted by LSU, according to sources.”
Gundy is still a long shot. Fisher is the clear desired target, and Ed Orgeron is believed to be the second option. Also in the running are Larry Fedora and Tom Herman.
However, maybe LSU should be taking a harder look at “Tennessee Top Hat” Gundy. He has shown he can do more with less by winning a BCS bowl game and nearly made a national title game appearance.
Plus, he already has the hair.
If things get frosty again with OSU’s main booster T. Boone “Hey, I’m a Billionaire” Pickens, who knows? Maybe Mike “Suns-Out-Guns-Out” Gundy could be roaming the sideline in Baton Rouge next fall instead of Stillwater, OK. But it’s unlikely.
