It was expected, but that doesn’t make it any less sweet. B.J. Thompson made his commitment to Baylor official and public today, choosing the Bears over Florida State, Washington State, Utah, and Texas. Thompson, a 2016 USA TODAY All-USA Arkansas first team selection, wasn’t expected to announce until later today, but apparently didn’t want to wait, ending his recruitment and faxing his LOI to Waco just before 8 am today.

|Name||Hometown||Position||Position Ranking||Star Rating|
|B.J. Thompson||England, AR||ATH (TE)||59||⭐⭐⭐|
The commitment of Thompson gives Baylor 26 players in the now nearly filled 2017 class, as well as their 25th 3 star. Thompson’s choice moved Baylor above Iowa in the 247 Sports class rankings, putting the Bears at 37th, just one point behind Big 12 foe Oklahoma State.
The 6’7, 205 pound tight end gives Baylor a huge target in the passing game, a great deep threat, and one of the most impressive athletes in this class. He truly has the ability to play on both sides of the ball, and if Baylor can refine his game a but, there’s a good chance you’ll be hearing B.J. Thompson’s name on Sundays in a few years.
