It was a relatively quiet weekend in Big 12 recruiting, with only two commitments in the conference. Both members of the Bedlam Series landed a target, as 3-star lineman Hunter Anthony committed to Oklahoma State and 3-star safety Patrick Fields committed to Oklahoma. This was a big get for the Sooners, as the Tulsa, OK, safety chose to stay home rather than leaving the state for Texas, or TCU.

|Name||Hometown||Position||Position Rank||Star Rating|
|Patrick Fields||Tulsa, OK||Safety||51||⭐⭐⭐|
Fields made his commitment official on Sunday, following the Frisco “Nike The Opening” regional competition. This is not a surprising decision as Fields has been the top safety target for Oklahoma for months now, and the Sooners have led since they offered.
It may not have been a surprise, but it is big get for the Sooners. The commitment of Fields moves them to 11th in the 247sports class rankings, and second in the Big 12 behind the typical powerhouse, Kansas. Fields has flown under the radar a bit to this point, as he sits at 583rd nationally right now, but as he continues to go to camps throughout the summer, I expect that ranking to jump.
The 6-foot, 190-pound safety will bring a lot of raw talent to Norman. He is a rangey safety, with solid ball skills. His coverage needs some serious work, but he’s fast, and has great instincts. He’s pretty small right now, as defensive backs go, but if he adds some weight he should be a great free safety in a couple of years.
