Texas picked up some much-needed tight end help on Sunday. Syracuse transfer Kendall Moore announced on Instagram that when he takes the field next season it will be for the Longhorns.
Moore visited Austin over the weekend, and it didn’t take him long to make up his mind.
It’s a huge development for coach Tom Herman’s squad as they need some help at the tight end spot. Redshirt freshman Peyton Aucoin looks to be the starter, but behind him Herman’s options are limited. Senior Andrew Beck has limited experience, and coach Herman has already said that he feels that freshman Cade Brewer is probably at least a year away from being ready. And who knows about freshman Reese Leitao’s availability as he is dealing with legal issues after being arrested on serious drug charges back in February.
For Moore, the move is about playing time. He saw limited action last year and caught just one pass for 15 yards. As a graduate transfer, he will be able to play immediately and will give some instant depth behind Aucoin, if he doesn’t earn the started spot outright.
