How fantastic is this? Following Iowa State’s spring game on Saturday, quarterback Kyle Starcevich proposed a midfield to his high school sweetheart and longtime girlfriend. And it was all coach Matt Campbell’s idea. …Well, that is, how it went down. Starcvich decided to propose all on his own.

According to Cyclone Alert, Iowa State’s 247Sports site, when coach Campbell heard that Starcevich was going to propose he knew he had to help. See, Starcevich’s girlfriend, now fiance, works in the Cyclone’s football offices.
“Coach Campbell had the idea to bring her up and kind of recognize her because she works in the office. We brought her up front and he wanted to give her a fake award and I was going to present it to her. He brought her up and said she’s a great worker and this and that,” Starcevich said. “She had no idea. She thought she was going to get a job or something and I ended up proposing and I thought it went pretty well.”
It’s hard to wrap up a spring game any better than that.
“Probably the biggest storyline is Kyle and Tori,” Campbell said afterward. “They’ve dated for five years. Tori has worked in out football office since I’ve been here and Kyle Starcivich, an unbelievable kid, obviously Tory a great girl and it’s great to see those two. High school sweethearts getting engaged, so we’ll see if Jack Trice brings them a little luck.”
