Not many schools had a better weekend than Baylor. The Bears picked up four commitments on Sunday, and they aren’t done yet as they added another player, Texas safety Christian Morgan, to their 2018 recruiting class. Morgan is the 10th commitment in Baylor’s class, a class that now sits at 17th(!!!) in the country, and second in the Big 12 behind Oklahoma State, and just in front of Texas and Kansas. Morgan is the third safety in the class, along with JT Woods and Delarrin Turner-Yell, though he may actually be the fourth defensive back, if Mark Milton ends up on that side of the ball.

Morgan chose Baylor over offers from Kansas, Vanderbilt, TCU, Texas A&M, Indiana, Iowa State, Northwestern, Texas Tech, and Notre Dame, among others.
If you haven’t picked up on the common trend yet, Baylor is landing all of these players because they’re selling them on being a part of “the fastest team in college football”. Baylor wants to be Oregon south, and these kids are buying in. Matt Rhule is landing the best athletes in Texas, and he thinks he’ll be able to develop them into stars at the next level. Baylor needs talent, and when you need talent, this is a very good approach to take.
On the field, Morgan is an absolutely elite athlete. He was ranked in the 99th percentile at a Nike camp in SPARQ, and it shows on the field. He possesses incredible range, and makes up for his smaller, 6-foot frame with an insane vertical jump. He’s raw, as all of these guys are, but he has everything a safety needs, in terms of raw ability, to succeed in college football, as well as in the NFL. His ceiling comparison is former Michigan Wolverine, Jabrill Peppers.
