Longhorn offensive lineman Brandon Hodges missed quite a bit of spring practice in order to focus on his grades, but it looks like that paid off. The senior announced on Tuesday that he is graduating. That’s the good news. The bad news is he also announced that he is transferring from the program.

Hodges is most likely looking for playing time as he slipped down the depth chart this spring as he dealt with his academic issues.
While Hodges most likely would not have started, his transfer is a blow to the rotation. He came to Austin as a JUCO transfer in 2015 out of East Mississippi Community College and was ranked as a top 5 offensive tackle by Scout. He played in 11 games last season and started at right tackle in 9 of them. His leadership and experience will be missed as coach Tom Herman has been tasked with rebuilding the offense.
There is no word yet on where Hodges may land, but since Hodges will be a graduate transfer he will be eligible to play immediately.
