After hours of rumors, speculation, and tweets with the eyes emoji, Memphis wide receiver Kundarrius Taylor has officially committed to Oklahoma. About three hours ago, the rumors began, when head coach Lincoln Riley tweeted those infamous eye emojis, seemingly about Taylor. Taylor has been on commitment watch for a couple of days now, and was, for the most part, just waiting to clear everything up with Oklahoma in terms of scholarship and class numbers. He finally got the okay just moments ago, and now he’s a Sooner.

Taylor is the 12th commitment in Oklahoma’s 2018 recruiting class, and, surprisingly enough, the first wide receiver. There are a number of receivers that Oklahoma is still chasing in this class, but the Sooners are very happy with Taylor kicking off the receiver recruiting. He wants to be a leader, and should help a lot as one of the focal points of the class, at least on the offensive side of the ball.

Taylor committed to Oklahoma over Kentucky, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, Tennessee and UCLA. He also had serious interest from LSU and Alabama, but no offers from the SEC powerhouses. For much of his recruitment, Taylor was expected to stay in the SEC, but the chance to play early and often in a system like Oklahoma’s is too much to pass up on for Taylor. he visited Oklahoma for their junior day, and has loved the Sooners ever since. Lincoln Riley made him a priority very early after being named head coach.

On the field, one thing about Taylor stands out above all his other attributes: strength. Taylor is probably the strongest receiver I’ve seen in this class, both in his hands, and his legs. He runs like a running back, and catches like a tight end. He’s a pure playmaker, and will be a stud with some development. He has every physical tool you could want from a receiver, and while Oklahoma needs to develop his finer skills, like route running and general footwork skills. This is a huge commitment, and Sooner nation should be very excited. His ceiling comparison is Stefon Diggs.
