One of TCU’s top targets in the 2018 recruiting cycle is Louisiana wide receiver and former Kansas commit Ja’Marr Chase. After a long battle between the Horned Frogs and LSU, Chase was set to decide on July 2nd, his grandmother’s birthday. The plan was to commit on NFL Network at The Opening, Nike’s annual event, so his family could watch. Chase was asked to push his commitment back one day if he wanted to announce on TV, which he agreed to. However, due to a surprise commitment to Tennessee from defensive tackle Greg Emerson, Ja’Marr’ scheduled commitment was pushed out.
Sounds like that surprise TV commitment from Greg Emerson bumped Ja'Marr Chase from his time slot. NFL Network is debating next step now.

He will no longer be committing today, and will announce his next steps after the event ends. This absolutely not a case of a kid getting cold feet, either. Ja’Marr was ready to commit, and has every reason to be very upset with the way NFL Network handled this.
Ja'Marr Chase will address what's next once the event wraps up. His decision won't come right now. Tough to see things play out like that.

Chase is considered to be a TCU lean, and while the wait may not impact his final decision, it’s certainly disappointing to see a great kid like Ja’Marr get his moment ruined. He’ll likely be making his decision soon, presumably once he gets back home. Right now, TCU is my pick, but LSU is notorious for turning recruitments around out of nowhere. Keep you eyes open, and keep checking LandGrant Gauntlet dot-com for news on Chase’s commitment as soon as it becomes available.
