Prior to the 2015 season the Longhorns started allowing beer sales within Darrell K Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium, and two years later, they have an official beer sponsor. On Wednesday, Corona Extra was named a sponsor of the Longhorns in a “Horns Up, Limes In” ad campaign.
“Texas is proud to join with the Corona Extra team to promote the excitement and pageantry of collegiate sports,” athletic director Mike Perrin said in a statement.
Corona Extra is the number one import beer in the U.S.
“Corona is honored to be a part of the legendary Longhorns lore, and we’re excited to raise our Coronas and Hook ’em Horns this season as part of a statewide platform.” Said John Alvarado, vice president of marketing for Corona Extra.
As part of the deal, a Corona Beach House featuring the “brand’s activation experience” will be setup near the stadium on game days for fans 21-years-old and over.
Even if Corona isn’t your beer of choice, if there’s free beer being handed out, who doesn’t love that?
