When Oklahoma State reports to fall camp on Sunday night, they will be without defensive tackle Fua Leilua. On Thursday, Robert Allen with reported while on air with The Franchise out of Oklahoma City that the incoming 6-foot-3 JUCO transfer won’t be joining the Cowboys after all. Allen’s report was later confirmed by the Tulsa World’s Mark Cooper.

The Cowboys have high expectations for 2017, but they already have to replace Vincent Taylor and Motekiai Maile at the defensive tackle position from last season. Losing Leilua hurts. He spent 2016 at Snow College Utah, and chose Oklahoma State over Utah State, Purdue and TCU. He was expected to be a part of the rotation this fall. Now, it will be up to Darrion Daniels, Trey Carter, DeQuinton Osborne and Enoch Smith Jr to carry the load for the Cowboys.

It is thought that Leilua’s change of heart is due to a personal family matter.
