2017 Big 12 Position Group Preview, By The Numbers: WR

Leading up to the start of the college football season we are looking at the skill position groups for each team by highlighting a key stat or data point. Our first installment was on the conference’s running backs. ¬†Next, we’ll dive into the always entertaining and exciting world of wide receivers.

The Big 12 is loaded with receivers that can burn defenses with go routes, make big plays off of bubble screens and wow fans with their speed, size, and athleticism. The Big 12 is all about offense due to the rampant use of the air raid system, and having play makers is crucial to putting up points. In 2016, the Big 12 averaged 476 yards per game, more than any other power 5 conference, and nearly 100 yards higher than the snooze fest that is the Big 10. The key, is turning all those yards into points.
