All in all, it was a very good weekend for the Big 12. Teams in the bottom half may have faltered, but the top half did their job. These days, that is all that matters. The Big 12 is officially back in the serious CFP discussions with the Oklahoma Sooners jumping to number 2 in the latest Associated Press Top 25 Poll after a convincing victory over Ohio State in Columbus. Also, TCU threw their hat into the ring as a Big 12 contender with a road victory at Arkansas.

Oklahoma State is back in the top 10 overtaking Wisconsin and Florida State after another dominant performance and solid showing from the defense. Kansas State has looked impressive but has only inched up the rankings due to their competition. They take on Vanderbilt on the road next week. While Vanderbilt does not move the needle much, at least more people will notice if Kansas State takes care of business like they should.
I am a little surprised TCU only moved up three spots after the win at Arkansas. Not many people ahead of them have a better win on their resume than TCU. Now, the Horned Frogs only have the game against rival SMU to improve their ranking before facing Oklahoma State on the road.
Other than some shuffling within the rankings, there was not much change from last week. Only Notre Dame was dropped and replaced by UCLA at number 25. Also, Ohio State still finds themselves ranked at number eight. The good news is that they only need to lose two more games before being eliminated from CFP consideration. Although, in a way, the Big 12 sort of needs Ohio State to bounce back in Big 10 play. This is the win that the Big 12 will be hanging their hat on going forward, and it will not do the conference any good if Ohio State drops two or three more games this season.
