Three Big 12 Teams Named To Week 4 Coaches Poll

The Big 12 is strong at the top with all three teams in the top 15.

Three Big 12 Teams Named To Week 4 Coaches Poll

It is a bit of good news, bad news for the Big 12 in this week’s USA Today Amway Coaches Poll. The bad news? Kansas State, a team considered to be a dark horse contender for a Big 12 title, dropped from the rankings after a disappointing loss at Vanderbilt. Also, West Virginia was passed over by three other unranked teams leaving the Big 12 with only three teams named in this week’s poll. The good news? All three Big 12 teams are ranked in the top 15.

The top 10 went largely unchanged. The only marginal shake up was Wisconsin moving up two spots to replace Florida State at number 10. The Seminoles still have not played since the opening weekend loss to top-ranked Alabama due to Hurricane Irma. Their game this week against rival Miami, who has also only played one game so far, was postponed so we still do not know much about either team. Mississippi State was the big riser this week as they went from unranked to number 19 after a blowout victory over Louisiana State. LSU, meanwhile, tumbled 12 spots to number 23. And Florida is still ranked in the top 25 despite needing 7-1/2 quarters to score an offensive touchdown.

In Big 12 country, the new rankings set the stage for a highly anticipated matchup between Oklahoma State and TCU in Stillwater to begin Big 12 play. Both teams have shown they can be dominant on defense and feature major playmakers on offense. This will be the game of the week and will bring the Big 12 plenty of exposure during the lead up to the game.
