Week 10 featured seven contests between ranked teams and two upsets of top 10 teams, so there was bound to be a shakeup in the rankings. With the dust settled, five Big 12 teams find themselves named to this week’s Associated Press Top 25 poll. West Virginia re-entered the rankings at number 23 just ahead of number 24 Iowa State who they beat at home 20-16 on Saturday. Oklahoma rose to number five after taking down rival Oklahoma State in a shootout in Stillwater. The Cowboys only fell one spot to number 12, and TCU climbed to number eight after their comfortable victory over Texas.

Alabama is still number one according to the media, who still clearly prefer the eye test over resume. Georgia, Notre Dame and Clemson round out the rest of the top four. Oklahoma at one loss is still ahead of undefeated teams Wisconsin and Miami. Voters respect teams who win on the road, and you can definitely argue that Oklahoma has the best road resume in the country with wins at Columbus and Stillwater.

Iowa State surprisingly took the steepest fall this weekend dropping 10 spots after their comeback effort in Morgantown fell just short. The Cyclones just beat two top five teams in the month of October and lost by four points on the road to a West Virginia team who has been in-and-out of the rankings all season. This is definitely a slap in the face to this team. Consider that Ohio State lost 55-24 to Iowa and only dropped eight spots, which was actually only the third worst fall in the rankings. Penn State fell nine spots after their last second defeat at Michigan State, which included a three-hour weather delay.
