The first quarter was all Oklahoma, and just as it looked like the Sooner’s might walk away with this one, TCU answered in the second quarter and just like that we had a game.

After forcing Baker Mayfield and the Oklahoma offense to settle for a field goal on the opening drive, the Sooners jumped out to a 3-point lead. Then Disaster for the Frogs. The Sooner’s lead quickly grew to 10 as on the TCU’s first play from scrimmage, Kyle Hicks fumbled and Caleb Kelly picked it up for the scoop and score.

With momentum fully on the Sooner’s side, and forcing TCU to punt on their next possession, it was all Oklahoma early.

Baker Mayfield led the Sooners down the field and found Mark Andrews in the back of the end zone to put the Sooners up 17-0 early.

As the first quarter came to a close, Oklahoma outgained TCU 132 yards to 69 yards, and had possession of the ball for more than 10 minutes.

TCU, specifically Kyle Hicks, came out of the break angry, and the Frogs found some life. Hill found receiver Jalen Reagor for the 29-yard touchdown and the Frogs were finally on the board.

The Frog’s defense then stepped up and forced Oklahoma into a 43-yard field goal attempt. Austin Seibert’s kick went just wide, and TCU was once again back in business.

On the following drive Kyle Hicks put the team on his back by running angry and accounting for 39 yards of offense as the Frogs drove down the field. Hicks wasn’t the only one to step up the drive. Receiver John Diarse hauled in a one-handed beauty to put 6 more points in the TCU column, and just like that we now had a ball game.

On the following drive the Sooners offense found their momentum once again with an 8-play drive that resulted in another Mayfield to Andrews touchdown.

TCU responded with a drive of their own before the end of the half, and kicker Cole Bunce put it through the uprights to close the Sooner’s lead to 24-17.

So far the Big 12 Championship has lived up to the billing. The Frogs, down a score, will get the ball back to start the second half.
