Unfortunately, there is tragic news to report out of Manhattan, KS. Twenty-two-year-old Matthew Snyder passed away on Wednesday. Matthew is the son of Kansas State special teams coach and associate head coach Sean Snyder and the grandson of coach Bill Snyder.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Snyder family during this very difficult time,” Kansas State athletics director Gene Taylor said in a statement. “We are deeply saddened to learn of this news and ask that the family’s privacy continue to be respected. Sean, Wanda, and the entire Snyder family are greatly appreciative of the outpouring of support displayed by the K-State Family as they cope with this tragedy.”
Emergency personnel were called to the home around 1:00 PM yesterday. Several outlets are reporting that it appears to be a suicide, though officially it is being investigated as an unattended death. There is no indication of foul play.
“Right now it is still being classified as an unattended death,” Rowland said. “A suicide does fall under that category, but at this time ‘unattended death’ is the language that we are using until we can further investigate.
Our thoughts are with the Snyder and Kansas State family. EMAW.
