The testimony is graphic. Trevone Boykin is accused of assaulting his girlfriend last Tuesday, and despite her jaw being wired shut, she spoke with ABC affiliate WFAA on Monday night.
“So he goes into a choke. I remember him choking me and I’m trying to calm him down. And I just couldn’t. And I blacked out. I just couldn’t calm him down at all,” Shabrika Bailey told WFAA.
“The pressure was just hard. The pressure got hard to where I just remember just collapsing completely. And I just woke up in a puddle of blood on the kitchen floor. My whole right side was full of blood on the kitchen floor.”
The incident allegedly happened when Bailey refused to show Boykin a text message on her phone. Bailey suffered multiple injuries in the alleged attack, including a broken jaw on both her left and right side. She claims that Boykin tried to clean her up in a bathtub, but eventually took her to the hospital. However, as the staff separated the two and questioned them on her injuries, they reportedly fled the hospital.
Three days later, she was having difficulty breathing and had to be airflighted to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, TX.
“And I’ve never seen that much blood. I thought I was bleeding from somewhere else cause it was so much blood, completely,” Bailey said.
Boykin has not been charged at this time, but police have confirmed that he is under investigation.
This isn’t the only time Boykin is accused of assaulting Bailey, either. The two were arrested in March of 2017 when she reversed her car into a wall outside of a night club. Boykin was the passenger in the car. Five people were injured in the incident, and now Bailey claims that incident happened because Boykin was attacking her. Boykin was arrested at the time for public intoxication and possession of marijuana.
“He leaned over, attacked me, and choked me unconscious which made the car go into drive to reverse,” she told WFAA
“Why didn’t you say that a year ago?” WFAA questioned.
“I was scared. I was just scared. Terrified, of everything,” she said.
Boykin, the former TCU star quarterback, signed with the Seattle Seahawks as an undrafted free agent in 2016. However, the Seahawks announced on Tuesday that Boykin has been released from the team.
