The NFL Draft started out as well as it possibly could for the Big 12 and former Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield. On Thursday evening, Mayfield became just the fourth player from Oklahoma to be drafted first overall in the NFL Draft.

Multiple mock drafts had Mayfield going in the first round and it didn’t take long for him to come off the board. With the first overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns selected Baker Mayfield to come join them.

Many were skeptical of whether Mayfield had the size to be a first round pick and there were also questions about some of his off-the-field antics. Those seem to have not been significant concerns for the Browns, who have decided to take Mayfield with the first pick.

When he starts taking reps with the staff of the Browns, Mayfield will have his work cut out for him. Last season the Browns, who have not historically been a very successful franchise, went 0-16.

The Browns have selected multiple first round quarterbacks who ended up not panning out for them, but Mayfield will hope that he has the leadership necessary to bring the club out of the doghouse.
