The Pokes are already high on their current 2019 class, including 4-star tight end Grayson Boomer, but this week, head coach Mike Gundy gets to celebrate a new addition to his defensive line. The line is a position of need for the Cowboys, and this past Monday, Allen (TX) defensive tackle product Jayden Jernigan committed to the Cowboys.

THE JERNIGAN FILE
Jernigan joins an Oklahoma State recruiting class filled with defensive line talent. Oklahoma State is committed to bolstering the defensive front with three other studs already leading the way in 2019, in tackle Xavier Ross, and ends Isreal Isuman-Hundley and Koby Walterscheid. It’s been a big month on the line for the Pokes thus far, as three of those four (Walterscheid, Ross and now Jernigan) have all committed in May. Jernigan’s commitment makes the class number 33 in the nation and sixth in the Big 12. He’s the seventh member of the class.
This commitment did not come easy, however. Jayden Jernigan entertained offers from 16 other schools, including Houston, Texas Tech, Kansas State and Washington, among others. Thankfully for the Cowboys, defensive line coach Joe Bob Clements was able to seal the deal during Jernigan’s official visit on April 28th, convincing the young recruit that Stillwater was the place to be.
Looking at the tape, Jayden is a monster at the point of attack. He aggressively uses his hands in order to plug any possible running lanes and has a great use of angles in order to contain scrambling quarterbacks. Opposing offensive lineman will not be able to handle this kid’s motor. Look for Jayden to make an immediate impact for the Cowboys.
