There’s good news and bad news in this week’s AP Poll. The good news is that the three of the four teams to make the rankings moved up from last week. The Bad news is that after starting with seven teams receiving votes in the preseason poll, the four that made the poll are the only four Big 12 teams that received votes.
Oklahoma is once again the Big 12’s front-runner, which isn’t a surprise following their shellacking of UCLA. The Mountaineers held steady at 14 after beating up on lowly Youngstown State. TCU moved up a spot to 15 after slapping SMU upside the head with the iron skillet. The Cowboys also enter the poll for the first time after being left just outside the previous two rankings.

Unfortunately, after receiving votes in the preseason poll, there is no longer any mention of Texas, Kansas State or Iowa State.
Outside of the Big 12, Alabama took the top spot once again with Clemson, Georgia and Ohio State rounding out the top four. A handful of this week’s Big 12 opponents are also ranked. Of course, you have the TCU-Ohio State game, which College GameDay will be attending. Then there is Boise State, who will travel to Stillwater as the 17th-ranked team in the country, and Texas will look to get their season back on track against 22nd-ranked USC.
