Be sure you’ve got your snacks, beer and whatever else you need to enjoy game day ready early on Saturday. The Big 12’s game of the week kicks off at 11:00 AM, CT.
In what looks to be a season-defining game, the 12th-ranked Mountaineers are headed to Lubbock to face a red-hot Texas Tech. It’s an intriguing matchup. Will the freshman phenom that’s been taking over the record books over the last couple of weeks out duel the Big 12’s favorite to win the Heisman? Can West Virginia continue their march to the Big 12 title, or will the Red Raiders pull off their second upset in as many weeks.
The next three games are a little less enticing. Oklahoma State and Kansas also kick off at 11:00 AM, as the Cowboys are hoping to get their season back on track.
There are two Big 12 games in the 2:30 time slot. Baylor heads to Norman, and while the Bears have shown some flashes, and Charlie Brewer may be the best quarterback no one is talking about, they look to be over-matched by Kyler Murray and Oklahoma. At the same time, Texas heads to Manhattan looking to build on their upset win over TCU, while K-State is hoping that a quarterback will show up, and they can be competitive against decent competition. It looks like Alex Delton is going to get the start against the Longhorns, hopefully he can bring the Wildcats a much-needed spark.
There’s only one night game this week as Iowa State and TCU kickoff at 6:00 PM. Neither team has had a great run of it lately as the Horned Frogs are coming off back-to-back losses against Ohio State and Texas, and the Cyclones suffered back-to-back losses themselves against Iowa and Oklahoma. Though, Iowa State was able to build a bit of momentum last week with a win over Akron. Unfortunately, someone is going to take another loss, so this looks like a must win for each in order to keep their preseason goals alive.
