Sam Ehlinger Suffers Shoulder Injury, Will Not Return To The Game

Quarterback Sam Ehlinger suffered a shoulder injury on the Longhorn’s first drive of the game and will not return to the game.

Longhorn’s quarterback Sam Ehlinger is coming off the best game of his career against the Sooners last weekend, but an injury during Texas’ first drive of the game has put Ehlinger on the sidelines, and it doesn’t look like he will return.

Ehlinger went back to the locker room with blood on his arm, but returned shortly after in full pads, but with a wrap on his shoulder. It appeared that Ehlinger would return to the game, but shortly after halftime it was confirmed by ESPN’s sideline reporter that Ehlinger is done for the day and is being held out with a should injury.

There is no word yet on the seriousness or scope of the injury, but the fact that Ehlinger returned in pads hopefully indicates that it isn’t serious, and he’s being held out as a precaution.

Shane Buechele has taken over for Ehlinger and so far, he is 12 of 25 with 126 yards with one touchdown and two one interception. The Longhorns currently lead the Bears 23-17 heading into the fourth.

In other injury news, Baylor’s Deonte Williams went down in the second half with what appears to be an arm break. Trainers brought out an air cast for the Bear’s pass rusher, and tended to him on the field. There’s no official word on his injury yet, but it looks like he may miss extended time.
