Big 12 and college football fans are soon going to get “unprecedented” access to the Kansas football and Les Miles.

The conference, Kansas athletics, and ESPN+ announced a new, 18-part series following Les Miles, Jeff Long and the Jayhawks during Day Two of Big 12 Media Days. Episodes are to begin airing next month.

“We will provide unprecedented, behind-the-scenes access to the process of building a college football program.”

– News Release

According to the release, the series will include four preseason episodes in August followed by weekly episodes during the season. The series, which is produced by JM Associates and Sport & Story, will look at everything from Long’s coaching search, fundraising, contract negotiations, building the coaching staff, and preparing the players for the season.

While the comparisons to show’s like Netflix’s “Last Chance U” and HBO’s “Hard Knocks” are going to be made, there is one big difference between this series and those.

“KU will hold some editorial control over what events are shown in this series, per ESPN. Essentially veto power.”

– Matt Galloway, KU Beat Reporter, CJOnline.

The potential is there for this to be really interesting. If nothing else, getting this kind of access into a college football team is unusual and should be a unique experience.

The first trailer for the series is available below.
