We’ve nearly reached the halfway point of the season. Where has the time gone? As bad of news as that is, things are a bit worse over at Sports Illustrated. News broke on Wednesday that the 65-year-old sports publication has suffered mass layoffs. We begin today’s show with Phillip lamenting the seeming end of Sports Illustrated.
But this episode isn’t about the tragedy happening at Sports Illustrated. It’s about making picks for week six! In order to help with that, Phillip and Chris are joined by guest picker Mike Schneid of Mike Drop Sports. Before they make their picks though, they look back at what has surprised them the most about the Big 12 at this point of the season. And then, then is was picking time.
Then the boys make picks on every Big 12 games of the week along with a bonus, non-Big 12 Pick. Here are the timestamps for each of the picks.
- 9:02 – Oklahoma State at Texas Tech Picks
- 12:41 – Oklahoma at Kansas Picks
- 15:50 – TCU at Iowa State Picks
- 19:41 – Texas at West Virginia Picks
- 23:25 – Non-Big 12 Bonus Picks
- 27:41 – Baylor at Kansas State Picks
Last week, Chris went 4-1 to extend his lead, but Phillip also had a rare winning week at 3-2. Our professional guest picker, however, did not do so hot. Daniel Alexander of Grinders with Blinders went 1-4 to push the total guest record to sub .500. To Daniel’s credit though, he did predict that he would bomb while Phillip and Chris would do well. We will definitely have him back on the show so he can redeem himself. Here’s a look at the overall rankings.
2019 Pick Rankings
- Chris [16-12-1, 56.9%]
- Guests [10-13, 43.5%]
- Phillip [10-19, 34.5%]
