[tps_header]What a Thanksgiving week of football! Mayfield and OU claim the Big 12 crown in a Bedlam thrashing. Trevone Boykin re-emerges for the Baylor showdown and Patrick Mahomes becomes the first Tech quarterback to win in Austin since the Clinton administration.
These were just a few of the intriguing story-lines in week 13 of Big 12 play. However as the season lingers on, our quarterbacks are having to deal with a couple of uncontrollable opponents for which you can’t watch on film and you can’t prepare. Namely, Mother Nature and injury.
It’s late November so the aches and pains have gotten bad and the weather has gotten worse. And it’s showing in the QB’s numbers. Given the time of year and the rising stakes, winning is the name of the game and our countdown reflects that. Dazzling numbers that result in a loss may not necessarily help you climb the ladder. Hence, there maybe a few surprises![/tps_header]
10. Joel Lanning (IOWA STATE)
Lanning’s stats pretty much say it all. West Virginia was relentless in their defensive attack. They planted Lanning for five sacks and forced two picks out of him. He also accounted for zero touchdowns while completing only 50% of his throws.
However Lanning, in combination with young, up-and-coming new ISU head coach Matt Campbell, gives Cyclone Nation a lot to be excited about. But in terms of this quarterback ranking, not a good day.
