This is it folks, the last week of the Big 12 regular season. Our 2016 picks got off to a rough start as it took a little bit to figure out just who everyone was this season but over the last few weeks we’ve been red hot. Hopefully that continues this week and we finish the season strong. Here’s our week 14 picks against the spread!
K-State at TCU
Kickoff: Sat, 11:00 am CT
Betting Line: TCU -3.5
The Wildcats and the Horned Frogs, it may not be the game with the most on the line, but the purple showdown should be one of the better games of the weekend as TCU as K-State fight for bowl selections.
K-State is the higher-ranked team in the Big 12 standings, but the Horned Frogs are favored at home. Although, here’s something you might not know, TCU has yet to cover a spread this season at home!
K-State isn’t just the better team in the standings either, they’re the better team on paper. The Snyder-lead Wildcats hold the edge in scoring margin, turnover margin, total defense, and redzone scoring. Basically almost every major category that tends to determine a game.
This hasn’t been the year the Horned Frogs had hoped for, and I doubt they get it turned around in the final game of the season. Look for K-State to disrupt TCU QB Kenny Hill, and get the win. I’ll take the Wildcats and the points.
10 OK State at 9 Oklahoma
Kickoff: Sat, 11:30 am CT
Betting Line: OU -11
The Big 12 title game comes down to Bedlam in Norman, and the Sooners are a heavy favorite. Maybe too heavy.
Baker Mayfield, Joe Mixon, Dede Westbrook and Samaje Perine is a combination that looks unstoppable as of late, but anything can happen in a rivalry game, especially Bedlam.
The last two times this game has been played in Norman it has been decided by three points both times, with the Sooners and Cowboys splitting wins.
Oklahoma has the advantage on paper by edging the Pokes in total offense, pass defense, and redzone scoring, but Oklahoma does have some key stats in their favor like total defense and turnover margin.
Vegas tends to give the Sooners a little too much credit as Oklahoma is just 5-6 against the spread this season, while Oklahoma State is 3-1 against the spread on the road. I like OSU to keep it close, give me the Pokes and the points.
Baylor at 16 West Virginia
Kickoff: Sat, 12:30 pm CT
Betting Line: WVU -17.5
The end of the season can’t get here quick enough for Baylor. The Bears are 0-5 in their last five games, and they packed it in weeks ago.
That was confirmed last week when they got handled at home by a struggling Texas Tech team, 54-35. Oh, and that 19-point loss, is the closest game they have played since losing to Texas in week 9.
Meanwhile WVU is looking to pick up their 10th win on the season on senior day. A win that should come easily.
If the Bears can’t get up for a game at home, no way they show up on the road in Morgantown.
It’s a big spread, but if WVU doesn’t win by 21, I’ll be shocked. Take WVU and lay the points. The Bears have yet to cover a spread on the road this year.
