Baylor Fires Football Staff Member For Sending Inappropriate Text Messages

Another day, another embarrassing headline for Baylor.

As another football staff member is fired by Baylor, I’m left scratching my head on whether or not anyone in Waco truly understands the seriousness of the situation Baylor is in and the scrutiny the school is facing. Strength and conditioning coach Brandon Washington didn’t understand that when he tried to pick up a prostitute last month. He was subsequently fired after his arrest. And¬†clearly associate director of football operations DeMarko Butler doesn’t understand either as it is being reported the Butler has been fired by Baylor for allegedly sending inappropriate text messages to a teenager.

“DeMarkco Butler is no longer employed by Baylor University,” a spokesperson said in a statement. “As a personnel matter, we have no further comment.”

The nature of the relationship between Butler and the girl is unclear, along with whether or not the explicit texts were solicited or unsolicited. However, we do know that the girl, while a teenager, is reportedly an adult under Texas state law.

On one hand, Baylor once again made the right decision and immediately fired Butler. On the other, someone really needs to explain to these outside hires the gravity of the situation Baylor is facing. In the meantime, reset the “days since Baylor’s last embarrassing headline” counter back to zero.
