The Bears and Commodores will kick-off at 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 27, with the game broadcast live on ESPN.
This is the seventh time in the last eight seasons that Baylor will be playing in the postseason, and the first bowl appearance of the Matt Rhule era.
This is the Bear’s second appearance in the Texas Bowl. They lost to Illinois 38-14 in the fifth Texas Bowl back in 2010.
Baylor finished the regular season 6-6, 4-5 in the Big 12, earning bowl eligibility with a 35-24 win over Texas Tech in their regular season finale.
Vanderbilt, similarly, had to win to get in. They won their final two games of the season to reach six victories, beating Ole Miss 36-29 and Tennessee 38-13. This is the second bowl appearance for Vanderbilt under head coach Derek Mason.
The Bears and Commodores have faced off twice before, in 1953 and 1954, with Baylor winning both match-ups.
